1980, I graduated from a Lambton College Industrial Design program into a world recession; married while still in school and 3 children shortly after. Believe me, beginning a career within a recession isn't a lot of fun. 1985 our apartment no longer adequate, I purchased the only house I could afford at the time; thanks to my Grandmother who covered the lawyer fees. I then had a lot work ahead of me to make it our home. I used two 36' beams to jack the house up 3' and dig down 5' creating a basement. Then built an addition onto It; photos below;all this while we lived in it, some stories to be told on that! Since this time, by word of mouth, I have become the Beam You Up Guy; I've lost count of how many I've installed. Now retired from my 40 year career as a Principal Industrial / Mechanical Designer in an engineering office, it seemed like the appropriate time to begin a career; that others have labeled me into.

We install beams to remove walls, creating open spaces, we'll Beam You Up. Working with Engineers and Designers, we'll create approved engineered drawings and obtain building permits. We'll put a beam, or two, under your floor to remove a basement wall, or two. We'll put a beam, or two, in your attic to remove a main floor wall, or two. To eliminate a post, in the middle of a room, we'll replace the existing beam with a stronger one. Want a patio door instead of a wall, we'll do that. Once several factors have been considered we'll choose between a laminated wood or steel beam, whichever is best suited for your home.
